Looking for PhD opportunities?

Oct. 15, 2009 by mmelendez

internshipsWith support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Department of Sociology at Vanderbilt University will recruit new Ph.D. students whose research interests include health and health policy.

Earn a doctorate from Vanderbilt’s Department of Sociology, be trained with a concentration in health and health policy, and participate in the Robert Wood Johnson Meharry-Vanderbilt Center for Health Policy.  At the core of the Center’s mission is the education of a new generation of leaders in health and health policy studies, leaders whose diversity reflects the full diversity of the U.S. population.

The new Ph.D. students will receive a generous funding package which includes a base stipend of $17,500, an additional $10,000 topping-up award, $4,500 in summer funding, a full-tuition waiver, and health insurance.  Students will complete the requirements for a Ph.D. in Vanderbilt’s Department of Sociology as well as participate in seminars and other research activities at Meharry Medical College.

The deadline for applications for admission in fall 2010 is January 15, 2010.  All application materials should be submitted online at:  http://www.vanderbilt.edu/gradschool/applications_and_information/index.php <http://www.vanderbilt.edu/gradschool/applications_and_information/index.php> .
