As we approach the end of our first semester of senior year we are reminded of how swiftly our Wesleyan careers are coming to an end. Without a doubt our last four years at Wesleyan have left an indelible mark on the university and our accomplishments have been remarkable. Do you think your Wesleyan experience is worth sharing? Then share it!
This year the procedure to select a senior speaker for Commencement has changed. For the first time the opportunity to speak at Commencement has been opened up to the senior class at large. If you would like to share your Wesleyan experience at graduation as commencement speaker here is your chance.
Simply submit a 200-250 word essay answering the following: What has your Wesleyan experience meant to you?
This essay should be roughly equivalent to the speech you wish to deliver at graduation.
Speaking at Commencement is a unique responsibility that should be taken seriously. All essays will be reviewed anonymously by the Senior Commencement Speaker Committee. If you are interested please email your 200-250 word speech/essay to Dean Melendez. The Committee will select between three and five applicants for an interview to determine the finalist.
Again, this is an exciting new opportunity for anyone to partake in. If you have any interest at all in speaking at commencement, please don’t hesitate to submit an essay! Applications should be submitted via email by February 1st, 2010 to mmelendez@wesleyan.edu.
Good luck and all the best!
